The GFWC Valamont Woman’s Club was founded in September 1954 as the Junior Kosmos Woman’s Club. Four years later, the members reorganized and incorporated under the name Valamont Woman’s Club, officially recording their charter with the State of Tennessee on May 22, 1959. The name “Valamont” reflects the geography of our founding members’ homes – spanning the valley and mountains of Chattanooga.
Since those early days, our club has remained a proud part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) and the GFWC of Tennessee, one of the oldest and largest women’s service organizations in the world. Through seven decades of service, GFWC Valamont has continued to bring together civic-minded women dedicated to improving their communities through volunteerism, education, and advocacy.
